Welcome to our wedding, held at Borough Hall in Brooklyn, New York. We were wed by The Honorable Marie R. Lennon in front of a very large, curved set of stained glass panels. I should have captured it with Kodachrome, but Tri-X had to do for the low light.

Eli, our best friend, was our witness. I'm still a little weepy here from saying my vows. They had something to do with a ring and being together, and then I got to French my babe.

The judge gave us a minute after the ceremony so I could take pictures, and Kristen proceeded to start knocking things over. Here she is finding out how much the Brooklyn flag and stanchion weigh. (I can't take her anywhere.)

Posing with the Certificate of Marriage Registration made it all seem more real.

Eli, the greatest friend anyone could ever have, remembered something old (a penny, which he couldn't find right away, so a dollar coin), something new (a fresh Kleenex tissue from a travel pack), something borrowed (his grandmother's wedding diamond, reset in a ring for him), and something blue (an envelope which I wore as a fake pocket square). He also remembered cake for us to shove into each others' mouths. I'm a little disturbed by the zeal with which I am force-feeding Kristen here, but no one was actually hurt.

Kristen gets her shot, but I'm too eager. She can't shock me with the (cup)cake.

The judge asked us if we had rings, and as we said "no," Eli said yes and produced a ring box. He got for us a cigar band, a reference to the bands Luke and Laura used for their first ceremony on General Hospital. Kristen and Eli used to watch that soap together, and in fact just recently watched an anniversary re-run of the big wedding episode together. On the phone. There might have been ice cream.

This sweet gentleman makes his living taking Polaroids of the recently betrothed outside Borough Hall. He has bouquets of silk flowers in a variety of colors to match any possible bridal attire. He tried to take our photo as we entered, but it didn't seem right, given that we weren't yet hitched. Here, he sees me taking his picture and points out that he's been in the newspaper twice. He also dispensed lots of advice. He told us to travel a lot before having kids.

The happy couple.

And the happy trio. A marriage à trois if you will. Not really. But we're so glad Eli was part of it!
